March 2025: YOU CAN BE A HEART HERO!!

  • Midwest Food Bank Community Room (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Our theme this month is: YOU CAN BE A HEART HERO. This month, Kids for Kindness is teaming up with Camp Del Corazon, located in Catalina Island, which hosts a free-of-charge summer camp program for children ages 7-17 with congenital heart disease. It’s heart to believe, but they will be hosting hundreds of kiddos at their camps this summer, and we have the opportunity to help make their experience even more memorable! It’ll be so beautiful, you’ll heartly believe your eyes!

After learning a bit about our this month’s theme, we will spend the remainder of our time working on our three kindness projects. At our first station, we will make up our very own jokes, right from our brains, and make a sure-to-be-hysterical joke book. Second, we will make loads and loads of activity books for the kids at camp to enjoy. And third, we will assemble SO many heart lollies it’ll make your heart eye emojies go cross eyed!

We charge a nominal materials fee per participant. Thus, the supplies for each of these activities will be provided as part of the cost of participation. Detailed instructions for each project will be provided as well. The fee will secure your spot in our program. If, for any reason, you must cancel your registration, please do so at least 10 days before the event in order to secure a full refund. Otherwise, your materials fee will be forfeited.

Our events are geared to kids of all ages, and we have had kids ranging in age from 1 to 18 at our events. So all are welcome! Parents or guardians are asked to stay with their children through the length of the program to assist the children in completing the tasks at each station.

JANUARY 2025: WHAT COULD BE SWEETER THAN KINDNESS??

  • Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Kids for Kindness is doing things a little differently this month! We will be teaming up with some community leaders in Gilbert to join a Service Circus. That’s right. It’s a whole circus devoted solely to service. (Think more under the big top tents full of project ideas/materials and less bearded ladies/lazy tigers.) Kids for Kindness has been invited to host a booth at the circus so anyone can just stop on by and lend as much time as they can to a variety of different causes!

There is no need to register, and all costs have been covered already. Just swing on by - any time between 1 and 4 pm (it’s come and go!) - and show your little ones it doesn’t take much to make someone’s day.

December 2024: Kindness Makes A Fa-La-La-La-Lasting Impression

  • Midwest Food Bank Community Room (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Our theme this month is: KINDNESS MAKES A FA-LA-LA-LA-LASTING IMPRESSION. Throughout this holiday season, we make lots of impressions. The impression I leave in my wake after a public fight with my 7-year-old at Target about whether he’s old enough to ask Santa for an iPhone 15. The impression we leave on our neighbors when they thought someone was leaving them a special, heartfelt gift on their doorstep but it was really just my kids ding dong ditching people we love. But we can also leave an impression on people in our community that they are loved, they are special, and they are important. Let’s round up those tiny little elves in our lives and show them all the good we can do.

After learning a bit about our this month’s theme, we will spend the remainder of our time working on our three kindness projects. At our first station, we will tie some cuddly little fleece blankets for families who might be a little extra cold this winter. Second, we will be filling stockings for kiddos who have recently arrived in the United States and would love some holiday cheer. And third, we will make some very tasty cookie kit jars for families who are facing hunger.

October 2024: SERVICE JUST AIN'T THE SAME IF I'M NOT WITCH YOU!

  • Midwest Food Bank Community Room (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT. PLEASE JOIN US IN NOVEMBER!

Our theme this month is: SERVICE JUST AIN'T THE SAME IF I’M NOT WITCH YOU! Ah, Halloween. All the sweets and candy that mark the Christmas season, but without the built in messages of kindness. But don’t you worry! At Kids for Kindness, even kids with a tough candy shell will find their gooey nougat center by shifting their focus away from how they can most efficiently move from one king-sized-candy-house to another on Halloween night to ways they can use their sucrose-fueled brains to make someone else feel loved.

After learning a bit about our this month’s theme, we will spend the remainder of our time working on our kindness projects. First, we will create some cotton candy treats that are adorable as they are spooky. Next, we will assemble a fascinating little crystal ball so the kids who get them will see exactly how much fun is in their future. And lastly, we will assemble a Halloween bracelet making kit.

February 2024: WHO DOESN'T LOVE LOVE??

  • Midwest Food Bank Community Room (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT. PLEASE JOIN US NEXT TIME!

Our theme this month is: WHO DOESN’T LOVE LOVE? If I’ve learned anything after years of shopping at Costco, it is that you can have too much of a good thing: you can have too much mayonnaise, too much Kirkland Signature brand facewash, and waaaaaay too much Diet Coke just waiting in the fridge to be consumed at will. But one thing there can never be enough of is LOVE. You can always use more love, feel more love, and give more love. So in this month where love is in the air, let’s focus on the thing we all love to love, and we can never love too much: love itself.

After learning a bit about our this month’s theme, we will spend the remainder of our time working on three kindness projects. First, we will create some adorable Valentines Day confetti party poppers. Next, we will assemble some heart-shaped suncatchers just bursting with the good stuff. And third, we will put together a little candy treat for kiddos who need a few extra metaphorical hugs.

  • Midwest Food Bank Community Room (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT. PLEASE JOIN US AGAIN IN 2024!

Our theme this month is: IT’S SNOW JOKE, WE’RE GIVING KINDNESS FOR CHRISTMAS THIS YEAR! We all know this season is about giving. And about eating everything in sight and driving three hours to get to snow and playing the holiday music channel till your ears bleed. But mostly, it’s about giving. So let’s round up those little elves and give them an opportunity to GIVE to some people who truly need our love.

After learning a bit about our this month’s theme, we will spend the remainder of our time working on three kindness projects. First, we’ll decorate some holiday placemats that will be donated to Meals on Wheels. Second, we’ll make some beautiful glass candle holders. And last, we will make a GIGANTIC number of Christmas goody bags to be donated to refugees new to the United States.

We charge a nominal materials fee per participant. Thus, the supplies for each of these activities will be provided as part of the cost of participation. October 2023: SERVICE IS SPOOK-TACULAR!

  • Somerset Neighborhood Ramada (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Our theme this month is: SERVICE IS SPOOK-TACULAR! Maybe it’s just witch-ful thinking, but even when candy and costumes and remembering which house gives out king sized Snickers are the only things on our kids’ minds come October, I bet we can convince our little ones to shift their focus for just a bit and do something to help those around them. (Full disclosure though: I almost always end our events with a little treat to thank the kids for their time, so their hour at Kids for Kindness won’t be completely candy-free. I’m sure they won’t be disappointed.)

After learning a bit about our this month’s theme, we will spend the remainder of our time working on two kindness projects. First, we will create some creepy looking monster hand treats. Then, turning away from monsters and toward witches, we’ll create an adorable gift that looks a little like a witch’s shoe!

Please note: This event will be held outside. For that reason, we are doing just two service projects, rather than three. As such, the materials fee has been adjusted.

We charge a nominal materials fee per participant. Thus, the supplies for each of these activities will be provided as part of the cost of participation. SEPTEMBER 3, 2022: FEEL THE LOVE FOR OUR FURRY FRIENDS

Our theme this month is: FEEL THE LOVE FOR OUR FURRY FRIENDS. Tell me: who doesn’t love a cuddly little animal who’s been rescued off the cold, hard streets and is just looking for someone to love? On this special day, we will be doing an event that’s the first of it’s kind: finding ways to serve those captivating little creatures who need our help.

After learning a bit about our mission for this month (will we have a visit by one of our furever friends??), we will spend the remainder of our time at three separate Service Stations. At the first station, we’ll be creating homemade cat toys. The kitties who are rescued by nearby animal shelters will just love playing with these wacky wands of wonder. The second station will be where we create microwaveable rice socks for doggies and kitties who have just undergone a surgical procedure. I just know those little cuties would love to have a soft, heated pillow they could snuggle up to. And third, we will put on our chef hats and whip up some delicious homemade snacks for the rescued horses at Wildhorse Ranch Rescue! These horses are hungry, and sometimes oats just don’t cut it. We’ll prepare some tasty treats these horses are sure to love!!

The good people at Midwestern Food Bank, who allow us to use their facility for our events, have indicated that masks are optional for this event. However, we do ask that you please stay home if you are sick or if you are at a higher risk for severe illness. We will be using hand sanitizer before and after our activity to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

We charge a nominal materials fee per child participant.

Our events are geared to kids of all ages, and we have had kids ranging in age from 1 to 12 at our events. So all are welcome! Parents or guardians are asked to stay with their children through the length of the program to assist the children in completing the tasks at each station.
