Our theme this month is: FEEL THE LOVE FOR OUR FURRY FRIENDS. Tell me: who doesn’t love a cuddly little animal who’s been rescued off the cold, hard streets and is just looking for someone to love? On this special day, we will be doing an event that’s the first of it’s kind: finding ways to serve those captivating little creatures who need our help.
After learning a bit about our mission for this month (will we have a visit by one of our furever friends??), we will spend the remainder of our time at three separate Service Stations. At the first station, we’ll be creating homemade cat toys. The kitties who are rescued by nearby animal shelters will just love playing with these wacky wands of wonder. The second station will be where we create microwaveable rice socks for doggies and kitties who have just undergone a surgical procedure. I just know those little cuties would love to have a soft, heated pillow they could snuggle up to. And third, we will put on our chef hats and whip up some delicious homemade snacks for the rescued horses at Wildhorse Ranch Rescue! These horses are hungry, and sometimes oats just don’t cut it. We’ll prepare some tasty treats these horses are sure to love!!
The good people at Midwestern Food Bank, who allow us to use their facility for our events, have indicated that masks are optional for this event. However, we do ask that you please stay home if you are sick or if you are at a higher risk for severe illness. We will be using hand sanitizer before and after our activity to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
We charge a nominal materials fee per child participant. Thus, the supplies for each of these activities will be provided as part of the cost of participation. Detailed instructions for each project will be provided as well. The fee will secure your spot in our program. If, for any reason, you must cancel your registration, please do so at least 10 days before the event in order to secure a full refund. Otherwise, your materials fee will be forfeited.
Our events are geared to kids of all ages, and we have had kids ranging in age from 1 to 12 at our events. So all are welcome! Parents or guardians are asked to stay with their children through the length of the program to assist the children in completing the tasks at each station.
