Our theme this month is: SPREADING LOVE NEAR AND FAR. It can be so easy to float through our day to day lives focusing on things of minimal importance. I’m SO guilty of this! Which shade of fluorescent pink nail polish most accurately reflects my summer vibe? Are we feeling twisty pretzels or pretzel sticks this week? Which fabric softener scent is most likely to hide the scent of bodily fluids in my son’s bedspread? We can’t avoid thinking about every day, surface level considerations. We have to live our lives, after all. But if we open our eyes and look past ourselves, we might more clearly see that people we interact with every single day - as well as people far, far away - who could use a little extra love. We might see someone at the park who looks a little lonely. From time to time, we might hear some stories about people around the world who are going through something very hard. Sometimes, the person who needs a hug lives in our own house!
After learning a bit about our this month’s theme, we will spend the remainder of our time working on our three kindness projects. For our first project, we will make Mother's Day Goody Bags and handmade cards for our elderly little mamas at Eternal Spring of Arizona Assisted Living & Memory Care. Second, we will add our voices to thousands of kids at Students Rebuild by creating recipes for peace. Each recipe we create will trigger a $5 donation through the Spark Peace Project for organizations doing peace building work around the world! Last, we will make some lovely little room sprays with herbs and essential oils for ladies in need of some extra love in our community.
We charge a nominal materials fee per participant. Thus, the supplies for each of these activities will be provided as part of the cost of participation. Detailed instructions for each project will be provided as well. The fee will secure your spot in our program. If, for any reason, you must cancel your registration, please do so at least 10 days before the event in order to secure a full refund. Otherwise, your materials fee will be forfeited.
Our events are geared to kids of all ages, and we have had kids ranging in age from 1 to 18 at our events. So all are welcome! Parents or guardians are asked to stay with their children through the length of the program to assist the children in completing the tasks at each station.
